"Inside Out" has its focus on cities, places that brings to mind the past, the present and the future and where life does not stop and where everything is constantly moving and changing. Paradoxically, the cities of José Lourenço are on hold, contained in an infinite time, almost cinematic.

José Lourenço builds a visual atlas of the urban landscape as if it were designed only by architecture and engineering - humanity has been deprived of his place of belonging. In his work, smooth surfaces, geometrically rigorous embodies a cold and silent world where no one lives; a perfect mausoleum, which seems to have been engendered by any computerized process. In contrast to this disturbing and abstract wall, one can notice the presence of human traces which gives some reality framing. It is often a single organic element - bush, ladder, table, clothing that breaks the silence of this monochrome painting. The artist produces psychological landscapes, empty places where there’s no human presence.
