Maria Condado understands landscape as a space of investigation that goes beyond painting, integrating political and social dimensions. The artist explores visual narratives and dreamlike scenarios that draw the viewer into a play of distinct patches, textures, and colors, in which movement plays a fundamental role in perception and human experience.
The artist has widely presented her work in the national context, with notable participation in the exhibitions Revolução na Noite (Centro de Arte Oliva, 2024), O Sono de Debussy and A Play of Boundaries (Galeria Carlos Carvalho, Lisbon, 2022 and 2018), Bienal de Coimbra Anozero'19 (2019), Uma loja, cinco casas, uma escola (Casa Bernardo, Caldas da Rainha, 2016), Onde é a China? (Museu do Oriente, Lisbon, 2016), 16º Programa de Exposições (Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, 2009), Hangart 7 (Salzburg, Austria, 2009), Vestígio (Pavilhão 28, Hospital Júlio de Matos, Lisbon, 2005), Selecionados II Prémio de Pintura do Banco Rothschild (Palácio das Galveias, Lisbon), Prémio de Desenho FLAD (2024), Prémio Anteciparte, Lisbon (2006). Her works are present in various collections, including the PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon, the Norlinda and José Lima Collection, São João da Madeira, the RAR Group, Porto, and private collections in Portugal, France, and Austria.
