Maria Condado understands the landscape as a field of research not only pictorial but also political and social. The garden is the result of the constructed, a product of cultures and experiences that reveal ways of seeing the world.
The artist has widely presented her work in the national context, with notable participation in the exhibitions Revolução na Noite (Centro de Arte Oliva, 2024), O Sono de Debussy and A Play of Boundaries (Galeria Carlos Carvalho, Lisbon, 2022 and 2018), Bienal de Coimbra Anozero'19 (2019), Uma loja, cinco casas, uma escola (Casa Bernardo, Caldas da Rainha, 2016), Onde é a China? (Museu do Oriente, Lisbon, 2016), 16º Programa de Exposições (Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, 2009), Hangart 7 (Salzburg, Austria, 2009), Vestígio (Pavilhão 28, Hospital Júlio de Matos, Lisbon, 2005), Selecionados II Prémio de Pintura do Banco Rothschild (Palácio das Galveias, Lisbon), Prémio de Desenho FLAD (2024), Prémio Anteciparte, Lisbon (2006). Her works are present in various collections, including the PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon, the Norlinda and José Lima Collection, São João da Madeira, the RAR Group, Porto, and private collections in Portugal, France, and Austria. Hortus is her artist's book published in 2016 by Stolen Books Editora, Lisbon.
