Colección Museo Universidad de Navarra. Cuatro décadas

Group show curated by Valentín Vallhonrat e Ignacio Miguéliz

In January 2025, the Museo Universidad de Navarra will celebrate ten years since its inauguration, and to mark the occasion, it is presenting the exhibition Museo Universidad de Navarra Collection: Four Decades. For the first time, the exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the evolution of the collection since it began in the early 1980s. Organized around its two main holdings — photography and painting/sculpture — the collection is structured around the evolution of visual arts in constructing images that help us understand and interpret reality.

Through the works on display, we can journey through 185 years of art. Multiple perspectives help us understand the world through images, with the voice of the artists who created them taking center stage. The exhibition begins with the different origins of the collection — the holdings of Ortiz Echagüe, María Josefa Huarte, the East and the Americas — and continues through analog and digital photography, video and installation art, and the Tender Puentes artist residency program. The exhibition evolves through a transversal journey across historical and artistic periods, techniques, and themes that shape the collection, from the birth of photography in 1839 to the present day.
