'The Cascais Cultural Centre presents the exhibition The Displacement of the Gaze, which unveils an unprecedented selection from the important Américo Marques Contemporary Art Collection.
Curated by Sérgio Fazenda Rodrigues, the exhibition is based on a rigorous approach to the works and artists represented in the collection, with particular emphasis on the painting and video sections.
Structured into three interconnected modules — Body/Object, Image Protocols, and Landscape — the exhibition brings together around three dozen works by more than 20 Portuguese artists or artists with strong ties to the country. It crosses generations and artistic approaches, fostering a dialogue between figuration and abstraction, between the visible and the suggested, in order to challenge perception and encourage multiple readings.'
