Carla Cabanas is now represented in CACE - Coleção de Arte Contemporânea do Estado collection with the work "Family Album".
The work consists of six panels that, when juxtaposed, form a single piece. These panels, made of transparent resin, contain fragments of scraped images from all the photographs of a family album acquired at a street market.
According to the artist, the "work is a reflection on memory and the immortalization of experiences. By exploring the remnants of another's memory, the viewer not only revisits the past of a family but is invited to navigate through episodes that are not entirely unveiled, seeking a deeper understanding of how our own memories intertwine with collective history. What is present in the work is not only a reminiscence of a time that has passed, but an attempt to fix in the present what no longer exists, to perpetuate the ephemeral."
