Ricardo Angélico is presenting his work for the third time at the gallery in a solo exhibition, continuing the previous technique of elaborating compositions of unrealistic figuration. Presenting new works in canvas and paper, topics covered range from the fictional universe of Jane Austen and the economics of marriage in the 19th century. XIX; cinema, real and potentially real; the New Testament and the Dead Sea Scrolls; the formulaic universe of the soap opera; books to create more books; gamble, narrative and combinatorics; the financial crisis and the farce of sovereignty; the romantic age of scientific exploration; art, science and celebrity; imaginary geography; the absurd and the mysterious; man and history; genre painting. The artist shows micro-epic works, ambitious in the complexity of its themes that it shows in an anecdotal or systematized way, as a puzzle; each a visual event is waiting to enter or to be deciphered. They are also ambitious because they aspire to entertain and moralize without apologizing.
