Manuel Caeiro works with the simplest unit of geometry in order to appropriate their formal possibilities and make a complex analysis of the representation of space.
The essential vocabulary for architecture - volume, trace, scale, consistency ,standard , rhythm, surface - is used, not to serve practical purposes, but to act on what is most proper regarding painting issues. These elements will unfold rhythms and develop fields of transfiguration and tension between bodies and void, motivating an obsessive ordering and inquiry on the visible. The surface draws rhythms and spatial modulations through repetition and overlapping layers that sometimes serve as objective coordinates.
The artist chooses to leave visible marks and imprints of his studio work, following an apparent informality, but by assuming also the lines and vanishing points that enform the final result, reinforces the idea of movement and flow . The flashes of white and red, signaling used in construction, are deprived of their representative and practical sense to integrate a formal set, assuming their autonomy . Manuel Caeiro works between the understanding of space as infinite extension and generative capacity of the form in order to look for ambiguous places in architecture.
