According to Bell Hooks‘The function of art is to do more than tell it like it is – it’s to imagine what is possible’. One aspect of this quotation is the defining of art as displaying a purpose that reveals an awareness of what one can do and our place in the world, essential in one's actions. Carlos Carvalho gallery project to Paris Photo shows a careful selection of works that think about the role of the artist, the place of private memory in history and the imagination as a tool to organize life understanding.
